The Trakdot Luggage Tracker is one of those surprisingly brilliant digital travel inventions.

Small, light and inexpensive, this handy bit of technology will save you a lot of hassle when it comes to not losing your luggage. It will probably save you a big headache too! As the most advanced luggage tracking solution, it is also very cost-effective.

The Trakdot Luggage Tracker works simply. Just place the palm-sized tracking object into your luggage and then install the app on your mobile to locate exactly where your bag is.

Ideal for air travel, especially if you have connecting flights, the Trakdot Luggage Tracker reverts to flight mode when it is in the air to conserve battery life. The device then automatically powers up again on landing so that you can be 100% sure exactly where you luggage is. On arrival, the device automatically send you a text message or email to let you know your baggage has travelled with you. You can also check the status online or via the app.

I think the Trakdot Luggage Tracker is actually one of those new, travel inventions that are useful and well worth investing in. Initially it seemed the product had some battery life issues, but these have now been resolved and the Trakdot Luggage Tracker boasts an impressive 48 battery life. This makes it perfect for connect-based international travel.

The Trakdot Luggage Tracker uses local phone networks to notify you of your bag’s whereabouts, so is only available in destinations with cellular coverage and countries with GSM functioning. Only Japan and South Korea do not currently have GSM technology.

There is also an annual fee to keep the communication service working on the Trakdot Luggage Tracker, but the 1st year is included in the initial price of the device anyway. A one off activation fee also exists.

The communication tracking is compatible with any mobile phone – it does not have to be a smartphone and your luggage’s whereabouts can be checked via text, email, app or on the company website too. The Trakdot Luggage Trackercan be paired with up to 20 separate phones.

The device comes with a 2 year warranty and the required batteries are included with this product.
